We Have Been Blessed

It has been along time since my last post and for that i am sorry....Macario is doing great and will be turning one very soon...he has grown so much and has filled our lives with so much joy.....he is a lot more work lately, he is now crawling and getting around very efficiently ......his hemorrhage is no longer considered a hemorrhage because, the bleeding is now gone but, the damage is still there and most likely will be for the rest of his life. This does not however mean he will have any long term affects, but at this point we are not sure...(still praying and waiting). He does have a cyst in the damaged ventricle and this we will be monitoring, he is scheduled for a MRI in November and the nuero-surgeon will be watching it.. Macario has also now begun occupational therapy for the fine motor skills along with his continuing physical therapy. The other situation is the frontal suture in the forehead has closed prematurely and may require surgery in the next couple of years, we thought this was going to be done sooner, but by the grace of God we had good news regarding this also and now are going to watch this also and see how it develops. We ask once again for you to pray for we know Gods healing hands can take care of this also....Thank you all so much for being there.....Love Kim (Macario's Mom)

Macario is growing!!!

Hi everyone sorry i have not been able to update, my computer was down for a couple of weeks but, we are back online now.

We went to the doctor yesterday and Macario weighed in at 11.6. Can you believe that?? He is doing so great.. We are so thankful for everything. The doctors said that he looks great and was surprised by how alert he is. We do another ultrasound next month and he said that if that one looks good he will not have another one until 6 months from then, we are praying we see a vast improvement in the swelling, what a blessing it will be to be able to put that behind us...

Yes, we are still doing the walk for the march of dimes in April and I promise i will be getting more information soon, now that i am able to get on here and figure out how to do this...but, please if you want more information before I post it then just leave a comment and I will be sure to find the information for you ASAP.

We just ask that you continue to pray for our family, and for Macario, and as always we are so grateful for your prayers and support. Thank you!

having a good time

Macario is growing so fast it is amazing to watch him each and everyday...Yesterday, Macario laughed out loud for the first time ever and it was so wonderful to hear such a glorious sound. We have traveled such a terrifying road from the beginning and feel blessed at each new step he takes Macario being born so premature has had a huge impact on me and our family and i have done many hours of research looking for answers to many questions and in the process have relized what an impact the march of dimes has had on prematurity and what great work they are doing. Because of this we are going to be walking as a family, to support the march for babies in April to celebrate Macario's life and those effected by this life changing experience. We have made a family team called "Team Macario" and will be raising money for our local chapter. If you would like to join us in this walk please go to the March of Dimes website and sign up for team Macario...also, i will be posting a link here soon (as soon as I figure out how lol) or if you would like to donate you can do it on the website also... Thank you all so much and i will update very soon..

Just saying "hi"

Just wanted to check in and tell everyone "hello" and let you know we really have no new news but no news is good news.. Macario is doing good and growing so much, he loves to play now and tries to talk to you and sometimes is really loud about telling you what is on his mind lol.... He is also smiling really big also, I've been trying to get a good picture of him smiling to post on here but everytime i get the camera ready he is too fasinated with the camera and wont smile.

We are waiting for the Super Bowl on Sunday (GO STEELERS!!!!) and hopefully will have some family and friends to join us.. Macario has a Steeler onsie to wear that his aunt Kathy got him for Christmas so he is ready to go..Of course Martin is not a steeler fan being from Washington but, he is going to be for them because of us. (i think)

We will update soon and hopefully have some new "smiling" pictures for you soon

Hi everyone
We went to the doctors today and got pretty good news... the bleed is not worse it is still stable and may be just slightly better (yeah) we were very excited about that.. He also got his RSV shot today and didn't like that at all (but i don't blame him).

He was 9.2 pounds and 21 1/4 inches long, he is growing so fast it amazes me everyday. The doctor said to start feeding him cereal twice a day now and i know Macario is going to be happy about that because he really enjoys his cereal at night now.

Day by day is how we are taking it but i have to admit that each day I truly feel blessed that he is here with us and doing so much better.

I will update soon and we hope you enjoy the new pics we put on, we will put more on in the next couple of days.

Happy New Year

Happy New Year Everyone!!! We hope everyone had a happy new year, we did. Actually we just stayed home and enjoyed our perfect son. Daddy brought home hats, confetti and horns to blow at midnight. He also brought home a cute tiara for me to wear, that had flashing lights which Macario liked.

I took Macario to the doctors on Friday and he weighed 8.10 1/2 WOW we couldn't believe it, he is getting so big. They said he was doing good but they were a little concerned about the head circumference when they did the head measurement, so he is scheduled for another ultrasound on the 19th of this month, and we are praying that all goes well and it is not getting worse, if it is getting worse, depending on how bad, the next step may be to have a shunt put in to drain the fluid. Please continue to pray with us that this is not the case, we are believing in God once again to heal him of this bleed.

As I stated before we are involved in the birth to three program through WVU and they have all done thier assessments on him and feel he is where he needs to be according to his adjusted age (when he should have been born). The physical theripist will be coming in once a month for now and working with us and Macario and helping to keep an eye on him to make sure we are keeping on the right track. Her name is Kim also and she seems like she is going to work out really well working with us. If the need arise she will come more often but, as little as he is we felt that once a month is going to be fine.

We hope you all had a wonderful new years, and pray for each of you to have a wonderful 2009!!! Thank you again and please continue to keep Macario in your prayers.

Merry Christmas

Hi everyone we hope you all had a wonderful Christmas!!!!
Christmas was wonderful this year for us. Having Macario home was such a blessing. I had a new appreciation for the wonderful gift that God gave us by giving us his only son, and the celebration of his birth, by having my own son this year and what a miracle it is just to have him with us, and how close we came to loosing him.
We had a wonderful Christmas. We got to celebrate with all the kids (all 6) on Christmas eve and it was wonderful having everyone here with us. On Christmas day we got to have a wonderful Christmas dinner with my family at my parents house with all the siblings together.

Macario slept through most of it but was a wonderful addition to have on Christmas Day!!!!
He wore his Santa Suit on Christmas and made the most adorable Santa Ive ever seen.

Martin got to talk to his family in Washington and misses them very much, but thank goodness for phones so he is able to keep in contact, its hard being so far away from them but, at least he gets to talk to them.

We send Christmas wishes to everyone, may you and your family be as blessed as ours in the holiday season and throughout the coming new year..

With Love; Kim

macario: our true miracle
